What this entails is that essentially they will animate the cells and then they will make... masks of the cells where all the components that are supposed to glow will will happen they will then put these masks through the optical printer while shining a bright light and there is a myriad of things you could do to this light you could put gels in front of it to change the color one technique i heard is that they would shine the light through a bottle that had like glitter in it and that would add like a prismatic shine to it and then shining that light up through the projector and into the new film they could create literally a glow effect that they can later then Through the optical printer, reprint on top of all the areas, like laser blasts, glowing energy ports, energon, missiles, explosions, and shit.
