Curse of Chucky

Cult's bad.

Curse is the best one.

I'll say it right now.

Curse is the best movie in the franchise.

You heard it here.

Right.

I mean, you are dealing with Edmond Dantes, who is arguably the blueprint for every single revenge protagonist in modern fiction.

And Sam Claflin is taking on Dantes, which looking at his resume, projects like Me Before You and The Hunger Games films, he has this very established baseline of playing thoughtful, deeply internal brooding characters.

He does, yeah.

So the expectation here is that he's going to weaponize that thoughtful nature to play a man entirely consumed by vengeance.

It becomes a slow burn of dread.

And the talent they are bringing in clearly signals a deep respect for the horror genre.

Summer H. Howell is playing Carrie, and she has this incredibly dense resume of pure horror: Curse of Chucky, Cult of Chucky, Hunter Hunter, and the upcoming Night of the Reaper.

A true genre veteran.

Money talks.

There was no way in hell I was going to do an episode on Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, Call to Chucky.

Then I would have to do the TV show.

No, thank you.

But then there was, uh, Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky, and those were terrible.

I'm so glad they brought it back to, to being serious in, uh, Cult of Chucky and Curse of Chucky, I think.

Uh, and now we've got the Child's Play TV series, which I think is just called Chucky.

Um, and this is what happens when there's no one to [laughs] reel me back in.

Um, yeah.

We're doing, uh, Curse of Chucky today.

Yes.

And this is said to be Don Mancini's second favorite-

Um, check, check one.

See, it was supposed to be Revenge of Chucky.

Somehow it turned into Curse of Chucky, which I guess is following the Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky.

They're doing the Of Chucky.

He appears in the first one and then maybe again later on.

And like by the time they get to Curse of Chucky, maybe.

Are you also going to mention the other movie he was in in 1990? Yeah.

I don't have.

I guess the titles get quite interchangeable.

Seed? Well, there's Child's Play 3, Seed, Curse, Cult.

Okay.

I think, you know, the...

So his first effort

is like, whoa.

The issues I have with Curse are really all style based.

That's why it's not higher for me.

It's kind of perfect.

Curse of Chucky and then called.

Yeah.

And there's large gaps as well because it's 88, 90, 91.

It just kind of has the fully formed idea.

And I just love the energy of just like this kid at the center of it is just the most compelling child's play.

then Child's Play 2, then Bride of Chucky, which I think is the fourth one, Cult of Chucky, which is the seventh, then Curse of Chucky, which is the sixth, and Seed of Chucky, which is the fifth, and then Child's Play 3.

Is

She

was in one Chucky movie.

Okay.

Curse of Chucky, I think.

Oh, okay.

2013.
