The Curacao.

An interesting race of birds, known as the Curacao, has its range throughout that part of South America, east of the Andes Mountain Range and north of Paraguay.

All the species are confined to this region except one, which is found in Central America and Mexico.

This is the bird of our illustration, Crax globocera.

The female is not as large as the male and is usually reddish in color.

Their food consists almost entirely of fruit and insects.

About the middle of the 18th century, Eleazar Albin wrote A Natural History of Birds, in which he gives a very interesting account of the Curacao and an excellent illustration of the bird.

You might have seen him dressed in orange parading around Kansas City during the World Cup.

Or was it I think he was in Houston for one match of the World Cup because the Dutch island of Curaçao was playing.

And then he had to fly to the next match.

And he showed up in Kansas City.

After more than two decades of waiting, Curaçao is once again on top of the Little League Baseball world.
