Củ Chi tunnels

Man, I wanna, I wanna go, I wanna go to Saigon, AKA Ho Chi Minh City, up to China Beach, Da Nang.

Um, I wanna see the Tunnels of Cu Chi.

I've read all about that stuff.

And, uh, you know, I heard Da Nang's been rebuilt.

Again, it's a nice hotel with a pool, so I could relax a bit.

So, um, Doug went on a full day trip to the Cu Chi tunnels and Mekong Delta.

Um, how was that to you, Doug?

I loved it.

Uh, so we got to do some amazing things by ourselves.

We did Cu Chi Tunnels, and there were barely any tourists out there.

It was incredible.

It was absolutely extraordinary.

Like, it's really nice to just be there and, like ...

And I'm finding this the same thing here in, in Saigon, right? Like, it's a place that people come to to see the Cu Chi tunnels, and then, you know, maybe see the center and that's it.

But, like, just really walking around and seeing the people, where they go and, like, where they hang out.

I think that brings you closer to that idea of, like, okay, we're foreigners or outsiders everywhere, but we're also a bit local in a way.

It was only like 30 miles from Cambodia to Saigon.

And right in between and about 10 miles outside of Saigon was the tunnels of Cu Chi.

And Cu Chi is where the 25th, I believe it was the 25th Infantry Division was.

So we lived out in the swamp for a while because it was called a rocket belt.

The 122 millimeter rockets that the Viet Cong could set up Up north, it was mostly NVA.

And you can go straight to the airport from the ship.

But why? We're going to spend a couple of days seeing that area, the Coochie Tunnels, the city of Ho Chi Minh.

Both of those are optional, and space is still available on both.
