When does it turn and the child is abused or the information misused? What kind of areas does that happen in more frequently? And can you give us some examples?

If you are a grandparent in a family unit, chances are you might belong to a messaging group chat like WhatsApp.

Maybe follow your child or grandchildren on Facebook and contact them or connect with them through videos or photographs.

Now, this sort of sharing we call social sharenting or sharenting.

So sharent as in sharing and parenting.

This often starts off as something that is not sinister.

You are wanting to connect with family.

So do children later on sue their parents and say, I want money back because you've been using me? Have you ever come across that?

What did you have to learn to do your work? What was missing from your formal education?

Well, to work as a professor in the university, to do what I do, the minimum qualification is a PhD.

And so I would say I had many, many years of proper formal education.

I was schooled in my early years in Singapore.

I would consider that one of the more rigorous education systems in the Asia Pacific.

And having moved through the Australian system, spending some years in the Nordic countries, working across East Asia, and then coming back here to Australia, I think many different countries had prestigious of what I cobbled together.

as my informal education.

I would love to hear your educated expertise perspective on that one.

So what happened? What was this ban, if anyone doesn't remember it, and what were the effects?

Because the ban has no concern or respect for people with book production deadlines, my book was sent into print and this happened.

I remember being on a plane and feeling like I really needed to write about this because I was still collecting data post-submission.

And thankfully, my very kind publisher allowed me to add in a late notice epilogue.

So I have for us in the book a blow-by-blow on exactly what unfolded on TikTok itself as the ban happened.

Well, for one, when it was first announced, we were seeing the proliferation of curtain calls.

TikTok communities were self-identifying as American and saying, this is my eulogy, this is my farewell.
