Grant CampbellHOST
43:33
Those matches are 2:00 PM kickoffs, so a little bit of a stipulation on that one There are also seven games in the North of Scotland Football League Championship this weekend.
Grant CampbellHOST
43:42
These are all 2:00 PM kick-offs, and again, sponsored by mcbookie.com. Banchory St. Ternan host Cruden Bay at Milton Park.
Grant CampbellHOST
43:50
Burghead Thistle are at home to Dufton.
Grant CampbellHOST
43:53
Nairn County entertain Isle of Eile.
Chris SolomonHOST
48:14
And, uh, another blind par three after that.
Chris SolomonHOST
48:17
And it, it's a g- it's like Cruden Bay shrunk down into 12 holes, uh, on the complete opposite side, uh, of Scotland.
Chris SolomonHOST
48:25
And it's a, it's awesome.
Chris SolomonHOST
48:26
It's a thrill ride, and it does, it does make you want to go play.

Chris SolomonHOST
65:51
[laughs] But Machrihanish, it is...
Chris SolomonHOST
65:55
I, I, I, it's very different than what I guess I, I, I thought it was.
Chris SolomonHOST
65:59
I, I, I played there before, maybe nine years ago, and I, I think it kind of had a reputation as, like, a fun, quirky, Cruden Bay-like golf course.
Chris SolomonHOST
66:09
You know, it's kind of off the beaten path, and it's like...
Scott RoseHOST
33:45
I'm interested to see which way you go.
Scott RoseHOST
33:47
Cruden Bay, which is ranked 10th in Scotland, versus Tralee.
Scott RoseHOST
33:53
Tralee.
Scott RoseHOST
33:55
Maybe I pronounced that wrong.
Scott RoseHOST
34:00
don't say it
Calum AllisonHOST
34:00
I had I'm going to say Australia because I had terrible memories at Cruden Bay with playing a PGA event up there it was blowing a gale I couldn't stop the green in the second hole and I'm not going to lie mate I probably didn't appreciate the course as much as I should have but I hated my experience I I think Cruden Bay is so overrated
Scott RoseHOST
34:21
there you go I I'm not saying it's a bad golf course but it's not 10th in Scotland that's that seems a little bit high
Calum AllisonHOST
34:30
I've got 10 golf courses in my head already about Scotland and that's certainly not up there so no offence to Couldn't Bay or any members that are playing there but yeah I did not enjoy my experience there due to the horrendous Scottish weather excuse me I
Paul MurrayGUEST
31:29
I think all fiction writers weave a lot of themselves into their characters and their stories, no matter how hard they might try to keep them out.
Dacre StokerHOST
31:38
it's what you know best isn't it and if he uses locations where he has been like like whitby and cruden bay it would make sense to have his own personal experiences as well as his own person involved in sort of first-hand knowledge because that was one of the things he did was write a story that sounded surprisingly real because the characters were real.
Dacre StokerHOST
32:00
Parts of them were based on real people, real locations.
Dacre StokerHOST
32:04
And therefore, when you characterize his fiction and say, my gosh, maybe this is real after all.

11 MINS LATER

Dacre StokerHOST
42:53
I have, actually, it's coming out any day now, a fictional work.
Dacre StokerHOST
42:58
It's called The Ally of Madness, co-authored with Leverett Butts from Hellbound Books.
Dacre StokerHOST
43:02
It's a fiction of Bram Stoker and Florence and young Noel in Cruden Bay, Scotland, the summer that he wrote Dracula.
Dacre StokerHOST
43:10
So fictional work based on real events.
David WhelchelGUEST
25:35
There's some in Scotland that have been done in recent years that were great sites.
David WhelchelGUEST
25:40
One of them I drove by for years on the way from Carnoustie up north to play Cruden Bay.
David WhelchelGUEST
25:45
Cruden Bay is a fabulous links course up north to Carnoustie, about two hours if you ever get a chance to play there.
David WhelchelGUEST
25:50
And along that coast road, you go by Aberdeen and Merkur.
David WhelchelGUEST
25:53
And Aberdeen and Merkur have two great golfers.
David WilsonHOST
13:21
And of course, my favorite piece of knowledge is that Dracula first lands in Whitby and you can go on.
Martin FrizellHOST
13:26
Although Bram Stoker went to Cruden Bay up north in Scotland, quite a few times on the northeast coast.
Martin FrizellHOST
13:34
And there may be some elements of that in it as well.
Martin FrizellHOST
13:36
So there's a strong Scottish connection to what Bram Stoker did.
Grant CampbellHOST
71:15
There were six games taking place this weekend, with obviously Sturrup Park Vale and Bucky Rovers playing in the Grille League Cup.
Grant CampbellHOST
71:21
Sponsored by McBookie.com and finished Cruden Bay 1, Whitehills 3, Dufton 0, Sunnybank 5, Glen Sanner 4, Bankery St Ternan 0, Isle of Ale 1, Birkhead Thistle 1, Nairn St Ninian 5, Forest Thistle 2 and West Dyke 7, New Elgin 1.
Grant CampbellHOST
71:40
Gary, obviously, Sturdywood Parkville and Bucky Rovers not in action this weekend in the Championship, which meant it was an opportunity for some clubs to improve on their league positions and start moving up this table.
Grant CampbellHOST
71:50
And one team that certainly did that to pull just a point behind Sturdywood Parkville and level on points with Bucky Rovers was Sunnybank 5-0 winners at Dufton yesterday.

13 MINS LATER

Grant CampbellHOST
84:32
But well done to Nian on a very good win yesterday.
Grant CampbellHOST
84:36
A great one for Whitehills yesterday, Gary.
Grant CampbellHOST
84:38
3-1 at Cruden Bay.
Grant CampbellHOST
84:40
Really good result this for Whitehills.
Tom IrwinHOST
20:17
But yeah, I think people who know think that Simpson is the boy.
Tom IrwinHOST
20:21
So he did more Fontaine, did Ballybunion, did Cruden Bay, a number of very well-respected golf courses.
Tom IrwinHOST
20:32
I didn't really know any of this at the time or hadn't really considered it going to play.
Tom IrwinHOST
20:39
It's very hard to talk about it because it just had every single thing that I can think of that I like about golf courses.
Grant CampbellHOST
21:04
Right, welcome back to the North of Scotland Football League's podcast with myself and Dave.
Grant CampbellHOST

Grant CampbellHOST
21:30
Dave Bucky Rovers, obviously, they were the league leaders going into this weekend.
Grant CampbellHOST
21:33
They weren't, of course, in league action this weekend.

6 MINS LATER

Grant CampbellHOST
27:43

Keep enjoying your football and keep doing very well for yourselves.
Grant CampbellHOST
27:47

Dave SmithHOST
28:08
yeah they were at the shooting boots a whole bunch of weeks ago so they knew you were coming and said nah not today Lance but on this one a lot of good goals in this game I watched the fruits back this morning a lot of good goals in this one one's a rather interesting one I think it's the second goal in which West had 2-1 up in the second half I don't know It was kind of played out the left, right-hand channel.
Grant CampbellHOST
71:38
That's in the Premier League with a 2pm kick-off.
Grant CampbellHOST
71:42
In the Northwesterly Football League Championship, Bankery St. Ternan travelled to Burkhead Thistle, Cruden Bay host West Dyke CC Juniors, Forest Thistle are at home to Stonywood Park Vale, Glen Tanner entertains Sunnybank, while Nian St Ninian host White Hills.
