Crossroads of America

And I'll be at the Jefferson Highway Conference the weekend of September 18th to the 20th in Joplin, Missouri.

They'll be holding a joint conference at the Crossroads of America in Joplin, where Route 66 meets the Jefferson Highway.

In October, I'll be at the Miles of Possibility Conference in Springfield, Illinois, the weekend of October 9th through 11th, where Jerry McClanahan from the Route 66 Easy Guide will be the keynote speaker.

And both of those conferences will have the Route 66 trivia option.

You know, that day we also had Anthony Arno from Pennsylvania there, and me and him put together a—he mostly ran it, but I added— I was part of that, but we had a trivia contest.

We called it the International Crossroads of America Trivia Championship, and we had about six to seven teams competing, teams of four, and it was a lot of fun, and I think people learned a lot, and it was very interactive, and we did get to crown a team, the champion.

That was kind of the closing we did.

I gave a presentation early on kind of what the Crossroads of America is, and I used some kind of interactive elements to that.

So I wanted people that were coming, especially the Route 66 people, to really understand what we were celebrating there is In 1926-27, the Chamber of Commerce promoted Joplin as the crossroads of the two highways, the Pine to Palm route, and the Route 66 as the Crossroads of America.

So it was 100 years since that designation, and the community used that designation for decades.

People just really kind of lost what it actually meant.

So happened that I was commuting back and forth to the city of Chicago to roller skate twice a week on m- um, Sunday and Wednesday.

So happened I was driving on, um, I-90, which is the major highway here in the Crossroad of America in Indiana, and I caught-

... two flat tires.

This is not New York City, DC, Silicon Valley.

This is the good old Hoosier state, Crossroads of America.

So here's my ask, and it's the same one I'll be making for the rest of this season.
