Crockett

I've been thinking about selling them.

There's a pretty good sellout tomorrow in Crockett that's going to kind of give me a good idea of what they're kind of worth, and I don't know.

I can't decide what to do.

I'd love to buy back a bunch of heifers like we talk about because I love jacking with heifers and stuff, but it's just a hard decision.

They studied 6,000 head of calves, I believe, on the best day to sell if you're not going to precondition.

And the results were, like say Crockett sells on a Tuesday, weaning the calf off the cow Friday or Saturday, getting it to the barn, getting it in over there, settled in with hay and water.

And they actually developed a feed blend with East Texas Livestock and LNC that's like heavy molasses based.

And then where my grandparents live, there's a, there's a, they changed names just recently.

I don't know what the new name is, but it's in Crockett, uh, way out East Texas, uh, called Mimsy's.

And that's really good.

And I mean, we tried everything.

We decided this year to go to the Davy Crockett National Forest Area.

This area has many places that are extremely rural and desolate, which was exciting because we had previously found some interesting things and abandoned structures on our previous excursions.

I had used up the rest of my university printing credits to print detailed MapQuest pages for us to use for navigation while we're visiting.

We decided to start the trip off in Lufkin, just east of the National Forest, to eat dinner and get a few things from Walmart.

After dinner, we decided to mess around and get into our shenanigans.

A few hours later, we found ourselves in Crockett, Texas, about an hour west of Lufkin.

We planned on staying in a campground about halfway between the two cities, so had a lot of flexibility when it came to time.
