Well, Alan, what did you make of all that? It was good that he makes himself available, isn't it?

Oh, yeah.

Oh, look, Crikey, he's been available.

He's done so much media in the last few days, marketing his IGR that, you know, getting on board is I don't think a particularly notable achievement, to be honest.

Crazy game.

Crikey is exactly what he said when he came back to L.A.

But this is a Super Bowl favorite team of the NFC that we just faced.

Yep.

[gentle music] Serco has this reputation across the years for being basically akin to prison, very highly securitized, a focus on kind of safety and security over anything else, over the well-being of people, and that's what a lot of advocates and people that have been through the system have said as well, that it's led to a lot of issues with how people are treated.

Today, the Crikey website released a manual which has been given out by Serco to the people it employs to work at its immigration detention center.

It is a last resort, as, as it says, you know, getting into a, quote, "fight" with asylum seekers.

But, you know, if you read through the document, there's quite a few, um, use of force issues.

A good friend of mine, I was at his place a couple of weeks ago having dinner, and myself, we bought Stephen Mayne out.

So Stephen Mayne started Crikey.

I was one of the first 500 subscribers at Crikey, and I used to call him up and say, Stephen, look, you're just not getting the marketing right, mate.

You've got to work on the marketing.

I've got a renewal notice for this thing.

And that's exactly the kind of journalist I would aspire to be.

Somebody who doesn't mind burning the bridges for a story.

And I think Crikey at that time did that.

And not just me.

I mean, there was, there were reporters at the ABC and, and at SBS as well, and, and other outlets at Kwarki.

But, you know, we were, we were collectively dismissed.

Um, you know, we were...

We can care about what's gonna happen in 10 years, also care about what is happening now.

But I particularly like this take from Bernard Keane at Crikey.

Um, he writes, "If the risk of an AI apocalypse wiping out humanity is allegedly greater than 10%, the risk of the climate crisis causing hundreds of thousands of premature deaths, destruction of ecosystems and species, and massive economic damage is 100%.

When Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei starts calling for regulation and slowing down on data centers, then you can start to believe he might be speaking in good faith."
