Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog

We're back with our final audio log from the Chapia crew.

Chapia, or Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog, is a year-long analog mission in a habitat right here on Earth that's simulating very closely what it would be like to live on Mars.

We're lucky enough to have check-ins with the crew, Commander Ross Elder, Flight Engineer James Spicer, Medical Officer Ellen Ellis, and Science Officer Matthew Montgomery.

Just to recap, this is the second analog mission for Chapia.

HERA is one of them, H-E-R-A, Human Exploration Research Analog.

There's another one they're, they're using more recently called CHAPEA.

So you can put a small group of people in there, lock them in for months at a time, and mimic some of the psychological challenges.

But to my point about silos and segregating the investigations, there's no single analog that looks at the physiological changes and the psychological changes at the same time in, in the same facility.
