Crescent City

Would you say yes?

yes?On day one, my pitch started, my bike'd up to people being like, "Hey, like, do you wanna bike a day or two days with me?" And I probably pitched 40 people that in Crescent City, which is at the very top of California, and just got some of the craziest looks ever [laughs].

Like, the reactions I was getting and almost, I w- went to the surf lineups, I went to cafes.

I would walk in, and I'd pitch the barista at the cafe.

And it has to do with also the volcano.

You're gonna hear much more about it off the coast of Crescent City on the border of Oregon and California.

There's a underwater volcano and it's called the, I think it's called the, the dome or something like that.

But anyway, it's underwater, but it's right opposite Crescent city on the coast.

And, uh, it is already highly active and it is connected to the Juan de Fuca fault line so that when that volcano goes, it's going to trigger the Juan de Fuca fault line.

And that fault line is like, um, has, it's like a straightaway highway to triggering, uh, Yellowstone.

During the nineteen sixty-four Alaska earthquake, tsunamis engulfing coastal areas caused most of the destruction at Kodiak, Cordova, and Seward.

And caused severe damage along the West Coast of North America, particularly at Crescent City, California.

Some waves raced across the ocean to the coasts of Japan.

Liquefaction, which happens when loosely packed water-logged sediments lose their strength in response to strong shaking, causes major damage during earthquakes.

These waves travel across the ocean at speeds as great as 960 kilometers per hour, 597 miles per hour, and may be 15 meters, or 49 feet high, or higher by the time they reach the shore.

During the 1964 Alaska earthquake, tsunamis engulfing coastal areas caused most of the destruction at Kodiak, Cordova, and Seward, and caused severe damage along the west coast of North America, particularly at Crescent City, California.
