Craighead County

Enough of that.

Let's be moving on, shall we? This is apropos of nothing, but I did get a, just a, well, how do you like that? For this one, we go to Jonesboro, Arkansas, where a man named Gregory Curtis Daffron, aged 35, is being held on a $250,000 bond in Craighead County Detention Center, having been arrested a couple of days ago on the 22nd on 44 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.

It turns, guess what, not a drag queen.

No, not a drag queen.

You can almost be certain that Trash Patel is eagerly reviewing the child sexual abuse material, even as we speak.

And there's 44 counts now, but more may be coming.

Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler said, yeah, there's 44 counts, but that's just what they have so far.

There could be well over 100 counts.

In 1993, I was appointed to represent Damien Echols in the Circuit Court of Crittenden County, Arkansas.

Then he was later changed to the Circuit Court of Craighead County, Arkansas Western District in case number CR 93-450 and 450A.

Trial was held and Mr. Echols was found guilty and sentenced to death.

Two, Val Price, who was also appointed to represent Mr. Echols' co-counsel, and I have recently become aware of facts not known to us at the time we represented Mr. Echols that, in my opinion, would have dramatically altered the manner in which we conducted investigation, preparation, and presentation of evidence on his behalf.

We were really fortunate to receive a $1.5 million, uh, grant as part of that a- reward.

And what we're gonna use that for is a maternal and child health initiative in Mississippi and Poinsett counties, which are adjacent counties here to Craighead.

Really the focus of that will be improving access, uh, to, and, and improving workforce in the maternal and child specific areas.

So, uh, we're gonna purchase a couple passenger vans to drive, uh, women, uh, from those areas to Little Rock for specialty care.

And that's, you learn from it and that's what you do now.

So, but I also made so many wonderful connections with, And thankfully, since I was the evening reporter, I covered Jonesboro and Craighead County.

So I met so many people through my time at Channel 8.

I also got to cover my hometown of Pocahontas, got to cover Paragould a lot.
