I'm sure that they did.

And to be honest, I think even though I agree it was a fake studio, it was less fake than previous ones where, you know, Johnny Cerucci then was like deep underground, wasn't he? We would go, I don't know, did like Craig Federighi go abseiling down some crevice in the ground.
G
8:48Graham BowerHOST
And then in some deep subterranean windowless layer, we saw Johnny Tsurugi, whereas this, there were some windows.
G
8:55Graham BowerHOST
I think it was less fake, but still obviously fake.
Episode 448: iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro
D
21:14Dave MarkHOST
They could have just cut this section and I wouldn't have missed anything.
D
21:17Dave MarkHOST
I think it was poorly timed and unnecessary was Craig Federighi coming on at the very end, almost like an afterthought.
D
21:28Dave MarkHOST
I'm used to him being much closer to the center of the action or sort of introducing something, maybe because it wasn't WWDC.
D
21:36Dave MarkHOST
Maybe that's the reason.

S
19:11Stephen RoblesHOST
Also, shout out Craig Federighi.
S
19:12Stephen RoblesHOST
I don't know if we've seen him in an iPhone event in years, right? Yeah, he's not typically in the September event.
S
19:18Stephen RoblesHOST
Yeah, so that was interesting.
Hello (Comma) Hello, with Devon Dundee
D
4:29Devon DundeeGUEST
It's impossible to predict.
D
4:30Devon DundeeGUEST
I mean, who would have thought Craig Federighi would be jumping out of an airplane a couple years ago at WWDC? So I just go into those and I just know that it's, they're always a little cheesy to me, but it's always just kind of a fun way to ease into the event.
D
4:46Devon DundeeGUEST
And this one actually did have some relevance to the content because we got a glimpse at what we were going to get from the iPhone 18 Pro.
D
4:53D. Griffin JonesHOST
Yeah, the opening shot is just of the new phone.
A Duo of Love and Hate - Apples New iPhone
N
17:30Niall KitsonHOST
So I'm okay seeing people in casual.
N
17:33Niall KitsonHOST
[laughs] Um, Craig Federighi was very good in a blue shirt.
N
17:36Niall KitsonHOST
You know, John, find your thing, whether it's, you know, ganseys or I don't, I don't know.

J

And then in true Apple hardware, style it is the story of the hardware and the software working together right craig federighi appears in a phone launch because he needs to explain that they did a load of software things because once you have this kind of a device you can't just punt the software you have to build a bunch of bespoke software to go with the hardware for it to make sense so like the split view the Um, second window, they, they use the example of having two Safari windows open.
J

Yes.
J

D
20:52Dom BettinelliHOST
moment right there so they talked about the better selfies and there's a there's a mode where uh it's like an auto it auto snaps the photo for you so like you set up the camera and you don't need a timer you don't you know you just it recognizes when everybody's posed like everybody's stopped and stops moving around it snaps the photo and then you can even repose and we'll do it again i think that was neat i hope that's available in other can't in the other phones
J
21:22Joanne MercierPANELIST
It'd be nice because you start running in to try to get with everybody, even on a delayed timer, and it doesn't always work.
28 MINS LATER
D
49:51Dom BettinelliHOST
Yes.
J
49:52Joanne MercierPANELIST
So I think he's going to be more excited, more enthusiastic.
J
49:56Joanne MercierPANELIST
Whereas if we're Craig Federighi, he's always enthusiastic when it comes to software.
J
50:01Joanne MercierPANELIST
So there's sort of like the yin and yang.
