Cowichan River

Everett's mom says her son had begun avoiding the river.

But we know on the day of his disappearance, Everett spent several hours at an area known as The Mound, and the Cowichan River is not far away.

On February 10th, the day Everett disappears, a fishing report describes the river as high.

The water is dirty and brown.

Searchers consider whether Everett might have fallen, been injured, and been unable to get home.

They also search the river, but they find no sign of Everett.

In the past decade, there have been seven accidental drownings in the Cowichan River.

A recent BC Coroners report lists it among the most deadly.
