Cowichan Bay

With health care emerging as one of the key issues in this campaign, leaders will have another chance to make their case head-to-head during the debate scheduled Wednesday night right here on CHECK at 6.15.

The Canadian Coast Guard says it has removed roughly 2,000 litres of oily water and diesel from a grounded vessel in Cowichan Bay after determining it posed a potential environmental threat.

Now the Coast Guard says crews recently responded to the vessel near the Cowichan River estuary where it had become grounded.

After assessing the vessel as a pollution risk, crews used the Coast Guard hovercraft to reach the boat and remove the contaminated water and fuel.

So the three months of summer resulted in the same amount there.

Cowichan Bay, only 34 millimeters of precipitation there.

So Salt Spring Island was the dry spot at just 27 millimeters of precipitation, and we did see that throughout September.
