Cover 2

Let's go to Vince in Chicago.

Vince, you're on with Cover 2.

I mean, I totally, guys, I totally get and I don't necessarily disagree with the idea of just blowing it up and firing everyone and starting from scratch, putting folks on the same timeline like Shanahan and Lynch in San Francisco.

I do think, though, we need to kind of stop the bleeding of the constant firing and hiring and reset.

of SEC Unfiltered.

We'll talk some college ball.

This is Cover 2 on 104.5 The Zone.

Folks, I believe the enemies of this country aren't just outside our borders.

They had four of those, and the Colts had one, and it was only because a running back dropped a handoff from Manning that was right in his gut.

But anyway, Manning was very proud of that after the game, and when they won the game, he goes, I never want to play in the biggest game of my life and be thinking, you know, months later, why didn't I do everything I could to try to win the game? He also said, he also said, that they were so incredibly ready for the Cover 2 defense that the Bears were going to play and that they knew exactly how the Bears were going to play them on defense.

And the Bears that game had these because they wanted to be on top and they wanted to fool Peyton Manning.

The Bears had wristbands that they changed defensively after every series.

He played great, but just like we talked about with the Jets when the Patriots kind of held them off at the end by getting back to do what they do best – Caleb Williams was 8 of 15 and took all three of his sacks against man coverage.

Cover 2, 58-yard completion to Luther Burden.

You had a touchdown pass against cover 2.

And when...

I mean, there's more stuff that we'll get into.

He, again, also only really scrambled four times and for 26 yards.

That's a win for a defense.

And yet he still killed them because he was mature enough, I guess, as Taylor said, to take checkdowns against Cover 2, as they played a lot.

But when you go back and watch the tape, he was doing a lot of the stuff that we've asked him to do.

When you go back and watch the tape, the stuff that we talked about on Football and Other Efforts, the stuff that me and Stoney talked about Friday on Cover 2, where we said the way they're going to force you, this defense is going to force you to make tight window contested catch and throws.

And I think for the most part, the receivers did a really good job.

And I think for the most part, Cam Ward did a really good job.

This

is Cover 2, right here on 104.5 The Zone.

Football is in full swing and you're sure everyone's wrong.

Yeah, so in the run game show, we kind of illustrated the structure and how they like to run Tampa 2 out of that.

Well, they can also run a more traditional cover 2 out of that, and they did that a few times on Saturday.

So the difference is that in Tampa 2, you've got that pole player who's kind of like, you know, not as deep as the deep half players, but farther back than the hook player.

In a regular cover 2, Earl Little is going to drop down and just be you know, essentially a, another seam player rather than that pole player.

So what he's going to do is it's going to make it.

So there's less space underneath, but all in all, like I thought this was a pretty good rep of cover too, because like, if you look to the bottom of the screen, the cornerback, um, the cornerbacks in cover two and Tampa two, they're responsible for the flats, but they're allowed to keep sinking deep as long as there's no threat to the flat.
