I can see there is a gap.

Yeah, absolutely.

It came from parenting them, not wanting to say the wrong things, because I was aware of these things on a surface level from the pre-adoptive training.

But then having the children in the home really created just a sense of insecurity, I think, within myself.

Am I going to say the wrong thing? And so not wanting them to feel that I wasn't confident and also wanting to be able to support these behaviors so that they could feel the connection and I'm not saying the wrong thing.

to kind of draw this greater divide or make things even more difficult for them.

So I think just a fear within myself, wanting to be the best parent that I could and wanting to help them as much as I could.

What can you speak to or say to that?
