And we've got three... main candidates that are in the race.

Two of them are sitting county commissioners, Julie Abram Edwards and Shannon Singleton, as well as former Multnomah County Commissioner Sharon Myron, who actually ran for chair four years ago and lost to current chair Jessica Vega Peterson.

So the stakes are pretty high.

The county chair is the chief executive, has far more power than, say, the mayor of Portland in terms of setting the agenda, running the show, has both legislative and executive functions.

Each of them are effectively running against the county in one way, shape or form, and more directly against the incumbent county chair, Jessica Vega-Peterson, who has been sort of considered to have really struggled at the job by and large, and that the county continues to face an array of challenges, both structurally and programmatically.

And all of them are sort of running against the county.

At the same time, we've got two sitting county commissioners who are running against the status quo, even though they are technically part of the status quo.

And then former Commissioner Sharon Myron spent eight years as a county commissioner.

It looks like it.

Uh, County Commission has voted to, um, approve a memorandum of understanding I think is what they called it.

Mm-hmm.

So they're getting the final parts on the lease, and hopefully we'll be looking at, at breaking ground in a, a 18 months or so and start, uh, start construction out there.

We need somebody who knows what they're doing.

We need people to approach the Board of County Commissioners.

We need people to speak up with the sheriff who runs our animal control.

And so I kind of just kind of got sucked into it.

Here in Polk County, we have a little bit of a different situation.

TNR is not condoned here in Polk County at all.

The Board of County Commissioners and the sheriff who runs our local shelter do not believe that it works.

So we're kind of fighting that uphill battle of trying to promote it, but yet not get shut down because technically they could come and say, you need to stop.

Separately, reports indicate the continued disintegration of efforts to form a viable centristrite political alternative within Israel.

On the international policy front, the Miami-Dade County's Board of County Commissioners has approved a resolution to increase its investment cap in Israel bonds from 3% to 5% of its $9 billion portfolio.

potentially allowing for millions more in investment.

It was the last day that they were in office, and boy, they did a bunch of Andrew Johnson building new ag center for East Knox County approved property tax rate for the coming year and all kinds of stuff then on Tuesday, the new commission, which included, well, they were commissioners and new mayor Betsy Henderson and other officials took the oath of office at an installation ceremony.

And then after that, the commission got together and voted to, they were reorganizing themselves and they elected a new chair.

And, uh, it's been something to watch.

Yeah, one thing about this, you were talking about Adam Thompson.

He was really the driving force behind this on county commission.

And you're right, at the beginning, he just wanted to know more about it because this is one of the objections to how this all went down is in 2025, the sheriff's office got a grant from the state of Tennessee and county commission approved it.

But some action happened.

We have a whole new county commission that is officially sworn in.

New mayor is in office.

New sheriff's taking seat.
