Gerry ThompsonHOST
18:53
Dave and I...
Gerry ThompsonHOST
18:55
We're mostly off Counterspell, like, recognize that we were going to probably side it out in a lot of matchups, and when we're on the draw, a decent amount, but, like, having access to one or two, just like hard Counterspells is decent.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
19:06
Drown in the Lock can sort of fill that role in some matchups, and Scott has, like, 2-1 or whatever, so, like, you could maybe go one lower on Counterspell, potentially, but...
Gerry ThompsonHOST
19:19
I do like the one Murktide region because it plays pretty well into the game plan that I'm describing.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
22:57
Black's Prismatic Ending, if you will.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
22:59
Okay.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
23:01
It can kill Teferi, but also, yeah, I mean, your deck is all Pitch Counterspells and Thoughtseizes and stuff.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
23:07
And like Bowmaster, too.
MarshHOST
23:39
By turn five, they can already have won the game, basically.
MarshHOST
23:41
Even if you do manage to overload this through Counterspells, they're gonna be left with Bridges, so they're not even gonna be fully set back.
MarshHOST
23:47
And I think Affinity is one of the most resilient decks in the format.
MarshHOST
23:50
Like, even if they get Dust to Dusted a couple of times, that doesn't necessarily mean the game is over.
Lanny HuangHOST
66:33
You know, Fran sort of sensed this because he's a little bit more disciplined than I am.
Lanny HuangHOST
66:40
The original blue-white deck, he played three Counterspell instead of four, right? He's like, I can't add Meddling Mages and still have Counterspells.
Lanny HuangHOST
66:45
He played somewhere between zero and two Impulse, right? Whereas I was always playing four Impulse.
Michael J FloresHOST
66:50
I think at first I had three Counterspells four days, if that makes any sense.
Michael J FloresHOST
66:54
Because I think I copied it off the Kaplan list at the time.
Lanny HuangHOST
66:58
I mean, these are all things that you can do, and I think that obviously it depends on the metagame.
DaveHOST
31:07
If the thing that's threatening you is...
DaveHOST
31:10
Is it Guildmage combo? You need Counterspells.
DaveHOST
31:14
And you need to hope you have enough.
DaveHOST
31:18
Right? Like, all of these things, like, the things that can kill you, there's a lot of things that can kill you.
BobbyHOST
19:34
you're playing Dreadnought with proper Vision Charm Stifle and then Fling, and then just supporting cards around it.
BobbyHOST
19:42
I'm assuming Bolts and Counterspells.
SteveGUEST
19:46
Actually, you know, let's give you a little rundown of the list, Pooh.
BobbyHOST
19:50
I'll put the list down in the description, too.
DuncanHOST
18:25
is very different from an Atali where it's like, I'm trying to get your best thing off the top of your dinosaur deck.
DuncanHOST
18:31
If you look around and you're playing, let's say, Rhys the Redeemed, and over there they're playing Counterspells, right?
JeffHOST
18:41
Okay.
DuncanHOST
18:42
And over here they're playing maybe Goblins.
Andy Ross MeiselHOST
0:40
The creature package, four dibs, a granite gargoyles, just one of the orcs, and then a dwarven soldier, one flying man, so a little grab bag there.
Andy Ross MeiselHOST
0:51
And then you had 11 of the 12 bolts with the fireball after one of the chains, two main deck orcs, Bloodmoons, a Shatterwheel, some of the other restricted cards in here, two Counterspells and one Mana Drain only, and a bunch of Mana Sources.
Andy Ross MeiselHOST
1:07
We'll have you go over your thoughts on this deck, but I'll just read off the sideboard real quick.
Andy Ross MeiselHOST
1:12
Two Fluxes, three Copies, two Red Blasts, three Shatters, two Falling Stars, and then a Black Splash here with one Terror and two Darylores.
LucasGUEST
5:52
Mind Twist always.
LucasGUEST
5:53
So there's always some big scary thing.
LucasGUEST
5:55
But honestly, I found Counterspells are more useful in finding a good opportunity to get a factory through and Counterspell there, like Disenchant or whatever.
LucasGUEST
6:05
So like if they're tapping to play something and leaving up just enough to swords or disenchant, it's like, okay, here's my chance to like chip with factory, get that damage through, get them to two less and then, you know, keep the pressure on.
Zac ClarkHOST
32:38
I, you know, I picked up Arcbound Workers for next to nothing.
Zac ClarkHOST
32:41
Uh, Disciples of the Vault, Shackles, some Counterspells.
Zac ClarkHOST
32:45
You know, just all, all my Ornithopters.
Zac ClarkHOST
32:47
My, uh, my, uh, uh, black border, like, uh, Antiquities Ornithopters.
Edgar MagalhaesHOST
15:30
And then also being a model black card, I think is a pretty big detriment in your deck that wants to play Solitude.
Edgar MagalhaesHOST
15:40
And one of the reasons why I wanted to try a build like this is just because I think Thoughtseize is kind of premium right now, and I don't believe that the Overlord builds get to play a ton of Thoughtseize, or play the Thoughtseize as efficiently as a deck like this does, since you get to kind of back it up with the Frogs and the Counterspells.
Gabriel NassifHOST
16:02
Well, I think the stock list I've seen has four Thotsis in the main deck in S4 Blank.
Gabriel NassifHOST
16:09
They also have Flicker with Blanket.
