Counter-Enlightenment

You know, the weirdness to me, and, uh, we've talked about this a lot over the years, but the weirdness to me is that, um, all of this takes place from inside the country.

By which I mean DSA types hate America, and I would say, yeah, the sort of the trad w- uh, then you have the sort of from the trad wife to the anti-Enlightenment forces to whatever, uh, they, they hate America, uh, in, in its current form.

But compared to what? At least 70, 80 years ago, people indulged in a fantasy that there were these other places in the world that were better that we should turn into.

We should turn into a s- a Marxist country.

That's a complete lie if you look at what Sharia law really is.

If he really were to follow that, it's ant- it's anti-Enlightenment, and it's anti-American jurisprudence.

So I don't see...

I see with a, a lot of Muslim, and I'm talking about Hasan Piker, Ilhan Omar, Zohran Mamdani, Millet Quiros, uh, there's, there's a lot of people who have come over here, and they do not feel that...

So if you were to think about the philosophies that were running through Europe and the colonies at the time of the American Revolution, or leading up to the American Revolution, as well as leading up to the French Revolution, you have two very different competing philosophies.

You have the Enlightenment, and then you have a reaction to it called the Counter-Enlightenment.

And here's where we've got to pay attention to what is going on, because fascism doesn't come through the Enlightenment.

In fact, it hates Enlightenment principles, especially individualism, which, by the way, individualism is not something I'm going to defend, but I will defend the idea that the individual has existence and the individual has God-given rights.

You don't need philosophers for that.

You get that from the scriptures.

But all that being said, you have the Enlightenment and you have the Counter-Enlightenment, okay? Enlightenment thinking, okay? Basic ideas behind the Enlightenment.

In the Enlightenment, truth is objective, it is outside the subject, it is knowable by the subject, it is transcendent and applies to all subjects alike.
