We are in my room at Hollyhock on Cortez Island.

He convenes and advises progressive leaders, including those at unions, advocacy organizations, political parties, and philanthropic foundations.

He also founded Activate, an annual retreat that brings together senior leaders and change makers from across the broad progressive spectrum in those countries for strategic conversations on Cortez Island, BC.

I asked Jack about his history, his company fieldwork, and how he sees the differences in politics in the countries in which he works.

The democracy versus authoritarian contest is increasingly worldwide, so I was glad to get his perspective.

So you weren't part of that crew.

So that conference was held at Hollyhock for a number of times.

And Hollyhock is on Cortez Island in the Strait of Georgia off the mainland of British Columbia.

It's absolutely beautiful.

NBA superstar Stephen Curry is currently enjoying a vacation right here in British Columbia.

The Golden State Warriors player who's entering the final year of his contract and his wife Aisha are visiting Cortez Island off Vancouver Island.

Curry has been sharing photos and videos on Instagram showing them kayaking, whale watching, and taking in the scenery.

His wife Aisha, a Canadian actress and entrepreneur, is also along for the trip.
