Continental Baths

100%.

She sang at the Continental Baths, a gay bathhouse in the Ansonia Hotel starting in the summer of 1970, which is where bathhouse Betty comes from with Barry Manilow on piano.

She has a history of not just supporting, but also hanging out with gay dudes.

So I think both.

So The Divine Miss Bette is a 120-minute concert where I emulate Bette Midler.

And the concert is based on her 1970s concerts that she toured straight after the Continental Baths and her newfound fame there.

So it's bawdy, it's brash.

I do stand up, you know, back in 2017, when we first launched The Divine Misbet, there was a script and I was terrified to go off book.
