Why is magnifying the people you need important?
Brittany JacquesGUEST
2:39
I'm going to broad scope this just a little bit.
Brittany JacquesGUEST
2:41
And what I want to say is in construction, there's only two things, right? You have your projects and then you have your people.

So we know on the project side, there is so much infrastructure put behind it.
DerekHOST

Owen DruryHOST
0:54
And then there's this Harvard piece that I've been diving into this week, and it involves 10,000 leaders in 108 countries, and a finding that the person who gets your business through the next five years is probably junior, probably a bit annoying, and probably already doing it without asking you.
Owen DruryHOST
1:14
Before we get into it, a quick word from this week's sponsor.
Owen DruryHOST
1:17
In most industries, leaders run on factual data.
Owen DruryHOST
1:21

PaulHOST
20:15
This is not a line of duty death report.
DonnieGUEST
13:39
It's a controlled environment.
DonnieGUEST
13:41
I wanna say it's like a construction site, but it's as close as we can make it in a training environment.
DonnieGUEST
13:47
this being out here or some of these jobs that we're going to, these are more realistic construction sites than they're ever gonna see in our training environment,
RJHOST
13:55
right?
DonnieGUEST
13:56
So these projects are great because now we get to say, okay, you've learned in the yard, now we're gonna go do this out in the field and they get out there like, whoa, okay, I've got alleys to deal with, I got other vehicles to deal with, I've got kids or dogs running around, I've got all these other real life, real world problems now that I have to think about.

RJHOST

RJHOST

DerekHOST

if you run a construction business you already know the problem some months the phone will not stop ringing other months you're looking at a blank schedule wondering how am i going to make payroll so in this video i'm going to be showing you how to fix that for good i'll show you how to build a system that will bring in a steady flow of clients every single month so you're choosing which jobs to take instead of chasing whatever comes in And the reason you should listen to me is that I've helped general contractors make over $32 million in revenue and over $4 million in profit.
DerekHOST
0:29
Here's exactly what we're going to cover.
DerekHOST

First, how to figure out which jobs are actually worth chasing so you stop wasting money on leads that go nowhere.
DerekHOST
3:11
They want to know what it's going to be like to entertain their guests in their beautiful backyard with the huge patio and the barbecue pit and all that stuff.
DerekHOST
3:19
So that is what you need to sell the outcome of how they're going to feel, how they're going to use the space, what it's going to look like to finish project and you want to let them know that you're going to help them get there as easily as possible in the reasonable budget without surprises example would be if you're a renovator remodeler you know just saying like hey we provide quality kitchen renovation yeah you and the other hundred other remodelers in your city instead you want to be like we will get you your beautiful kitchen done in four weeks on a fixed price without surprises and you know if you can provide a guarantee you don't have to go crazy but give them a specific outcome how long is it going to take we do you know fixed price we do design build and to make sure you get exactly what you want and there's lots of communication whatever it may be but keep in mind that the client wants what the client wants So you need to tell them and showcase what you're offering in a way that specifies the exact things that the client wants, which is the final product, how they're going to feel, the prestige.
DerekHOST
4:19
They don't want to know about how long it's going to take for them to finish everything and all the chaos that goes into construction.
DerekHOST
4:26
If you're making specific claims, you need to be able to back them and have some sort of contingencies and a good contract in place to make sure that you're not setting false expectations and that you are promoting something that in reality can be achievable.
DerekHOST
4:40
The second part is showing up everywhere your buyers are already looking for you.
