And like, that's the only thing that they're going to have access to.

But it just seems like a kind of strange piece of social engineering to me, I suppose, like One way of thinking about it, I remember speaking to someone at a Spirit of Eureka event about the CFMEU a few months ago, and he was talking about how after the Price and Incomes Accords in 1983, there was the single greatest upward transfer of wealth in Australia in the 10 years afterwards, where suddenly a lot of money that had been concentrated in the hands of the working class was re-concentrated in the hands of the middle classes.

And I suppose that's what this is as well, right? If the working class can tap into their savings because they're not doing well and then pay for their rental property or mortgage, then that money is going to property owners or it's going to the banks.

It's going to sports bet.

But the first is the Labor Party here in Victoria.

It's been revealed that at least two and possibly more Labor hire companies affiliated with the CFMEU donated money to the Labor Party here in Victoria ahead of the 2022 election.

Now, does anybody wonder why we have so much corruption on the big bill? I'm just going to spell it out.

The CFMEU says to Labor hire companies that it controls, donate money to Labor politicians.

Apparently, Luba Grigorovich, who's now a state MP, received some of these donations.

Okay, so it says, donate money to Labor politicians.

Labor politicians then start a gigantic infrastructure program we know as the Big Build.

And the CFMEU gets to rort money, hundreds of millions of dollars out of the system, and that's now the subject of a Royal Commission.

[upbeat music] Now, front pages.

I haven't got the Courier Mail yet, uh, from Brisbane, but there is a story that does relate to Queensland, and this is the ongoing investigative series done by Nick McKenzie and others that work for, uh, the Nine publications, and they're calling it Building Bad, and it focuses on the CFMEU and their activities in the, the big build in Victoria, but also in, uh, corruption and construction in Queensland.

Uh, the AFP, federal police.

It says, "The federal police refused a formal request to investigate cross-border allegations of continuing CFMEU and building industry corruption, forcing state police in Victoria and Queensland to launch their own probe that led to dramatic raids this week." Now, The Age also reveals that "a top federal regulator has taken the rare step of confronting AFP command about its apparent failure to prog-progress other CFMEU and building industry probes involving suspected financial crime in Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland." So this is the Fair Work Commission general manager concerned about a lack of tangible progress by the federal police in confronting crime in Australia's building industry and the CFMEU, warning it could encourage corrupt figures to act with impunity.

So another week, another story about CFMEU corruption.

And for those of you who listen to us doing the, uh, the front pages from the [chuckles] the Courier Mail and The Brisbane Times each night, you're thinking, "Well, what is new?" Now, The Telegraph in Sydney, um, the headline is OzGreed.

Now, uh, Ausgrid runs the, uh, runs the, the, the power networks, and then of course you've got the retailers that use the Ausgrid system.

And look, I can't guarantee that whether it's Albo's donation to the Marrickville Golf Club or the Suburban Rail Loop donating money to the Cheltenham Golf Club or Labour politicians receiving money from CFMEU-affiliated Labour hire organisations, I can't put my hand on my heart and say, this is definitely corruption.

But I can look at it and say it stinks.

Floriade face has been interrupted by strikes as government service officers continue industrial action over stalled pay talks.

The CFMEU says while CSOs have skipped several rubbish collections across Canberra in recent weeks, an offer to keep Floriade unaffected was rejected by the government.

Local union rep Michael Hiscox says it's disappointing the government couldn't even meet them halfway when GSOs were prepared to pause their fights.

But an ACT government spokesperson says they're not aware of any protected industrial action that would directly impact Floriade.

It says government service officers have skipped several rubbish collections in different parts of Canberra in recent weeks over stalled pay talks.

The CFMEU says the proposed interim agreement to keep Floriade unaffected while negotiations continue has been knocked back by the government.

The minister's office has been contacted for comment.
