Constantine

It's funny when you go back and look at comic book history and you look at comic book film history in particular, the number of films that were based on comics being an established thing that you wouldn't know I did my dissertation university on comic book cinema pre-MCU.

So talking about the difference between comic to screen and Constantine, actually the Keanu Reeves version, which I also am a particular fan of.

I haven't seen it in a while.

It's an interesting flick.

It's basically, like, what I described as Seven meets Constantine.

Like, the film, you're watching it, you're like, wow, this movie has definitely seen the movie Seven.

And then Constantine.

And then, but there's, like, a bunch of devil shit in it.

So it's like, okay, so.

Weiss has been in some big productions, though, like the sci-fi conspiracy thriller Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, and Enemy at the Gates with Jude Law, and of course she was also in The Mummy Returns, even though she was recast for Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

She did the romantic comedy about a boy, the action horror film Constantine, the YA film Eragon, and whatever the fuck Fred Claus was, and she had some prestige arthouse roles in The Fountain, The Lobster, and The Lovely Bones.

More recently, she was in the historical drama The Favourite and the Marvel movie Black Widow, as well as a TV adaptation of Dead Ringers, and she will also be returning for The Mummy 4, and I confess, I'm genuinely looking forward to it.

Playing Evelyn's brother Jonathan is John Hanna, a Scottish actor who's very, very Scottish in all the behind-the-scenes featurettes, and it's a bit like hearing David Tennant go from his 10th Doctor Mockney to his native accent.

Constantine is great.

I love that.

He's like in this white business suit and dripping black oil.

It made it like Constantine film was not noted for being very like action heavy or like even I don't think they made a horror movie yet.

It did like the never ending story.

It is the few dollars trilogy, like the good, the bad and the ugly.

A lot of people theorized that that's why they were motivated to go to Constantine.

Constantine also has commented before that they were... you know, small enough that they can respond quickly and they were snappy and Capcom liked it.
