How does AI fit in with planetary health?
14:48
Uh, it's coming back to this element of AI is both good and bad, and actually it's a little bit of both, and de facto it is a mean to an end, and that end needs to be decided by the human user.
15:05
So we can harness it as a force that serves people and planet, and is not jeopardizing planetary health along the way.
15:18
But we need to think about ways to make it less environmentally harmful, which it is right now, and we need about, need to think about the ways in which we use it, and what we use it for.
15:37
Because right now there's a whole A, B, C, D of AI issues which starts with the A of agency decay.
15:46
But then there is the B of boundary erosion, where it is fraying our human relationships because we're so willing to go beyond the quirky relationships.
15:59
Because why entertain an interaction with another human being that is just as cumbersome as yourself if you have this artificial asset in your pocket that is always telling you how fantastic, smart, and marvelous you are? And that maybe in a not too far off future might be embedded in a robic- robotic shell that looks just like your dream partner.
