Connecticut State Senate

All right.

Our guest today is Rob Blanchard, the Democratic candidate for Connecticut's 28th State Senate District.

The 28th district includes Newtown, Bethel, Easton, Fairfield, and Weston? Not anymore.

Yeah.

So I think

the disconnect, not just here in Newtown, it's really sort of our politics in general.

What I've told people is that if I'm elected to the Senate, I'd be one of the only, if not the only person who's probably recently bought a house that is juggling the cost of childcare, which is $2,000 a month, and that's not even full time.

Wow.

He used it carefully, channeling his experience into policy, serving on numerous boards and commissions, fighting for those whose disabilities made them invisible.

In 2015, he followed the inevitable gravitational pull of family and ran for office, serving a term in the Connecticut State Senate.

His campaign was low-key, his style pragmatic.

He didn't grandstand.
