Let's get into the most prominent, probably the most well-known vampire of the DKU, mostly because it's in one of the three core franchises, what are considered the three core franchises of the DKU.

Conker's Bad Fur Day, Count Batula, and Conker.

Because Conker himself becomes a vampire, Jeff.

So in Batula's own words, it's in the middle of nowhere because he does this Romanian accent.

That, like all accents in Conker, it's just barely holding together, but you love it all the same.

I would say that it's a big Sony year but the Sony offering is spread out over a load of different publishers so you have like a massive Namco stand there Sony do have their own area and there's a big Eidos area where obviously that has like Soul Reaver and Tomb Raider which are significant PlayStation games their own booth is kind of sizable enough but I would say not as significant as it was the previous year whereas I thought Nintendo had a fucking amazing booth this year They were the only ones I could tell that did a proper sort of like press briefing, or at least that they're the only ones who had their press briefing uploaded.

And they went for this kind of like odd trilogy of Conker 12 Tales, which later became Conker's Bad Fur Day and was not published by Nintendo, obviously.

um they had a long demo of that they had a pokemon which was kind of like a introducing pokemon to the west push they had a massive thing about this anime is huge and this game is also huge to go along with it it's the biggest kids show in japan it's going to be like this um phenomenon once it lands here And then they end with Miyamoto demoing Ocarina of Time on stage.

And apparently the big thing that was hanging over Nintendo's showcase was that previous year they'd made a big deal about the 64DD, and that was just fucking nowhere to be found this time.

Tim Weaver would have said something in the N64 magazine if that was true.

Even with those blinkers on, I don't particularly get the Conker's Twelve Tales thing.

Like, I never really understood the appeal of that, you know, whenever they had screens of it in the magazine.

There's Tai, the Tasmanian Tiger.

You've got Conker from Conker's Bad Fur Day.

There's also Daxter from the Jak and Daxter game.

And then my friend Earl from the ToeJam and Earl games.

I think the idea is that they're going to be the people in the room that are just like, brainstorm random shit that you think is going to be the next best thing.

And they're going to be like, okay, AI, show me what would happen if Conker turned into Master Chief or something.

Or if Master Chief became Conker's Bat for a day.

And then they're like, well, we'll make a game like that if it worked out type of thing.

Maybe it might not even be the game like they make with AI.

I mean, I don't know if this is quite the same point you're making, but it's something that struck me when I was playing through it.

And I know it's not the same team, but there's always a bit of cross-contamination.

It strikes me that this game has a bit of shared DNA with Conker's Bad Fur Day and the various projects that led up to Conker's Bad Fur Day.

In a way, it's a very, like you say, linear story with lots of different sections, one after another, but also with a hub that you originate from at various points.
