Zola joins me in the studio to talk about her favorite baking book, a book of birthday cakes, no less, how her book deal came to be, talk about manifesting what you want, and developing the cakes for her new book.

Then she walks me through her recipe for buttermilk funfetti cake with whipped white chocolate ganache.

She tells me about how the white chocolate stabilizes the frosting, why she adds oil and butter to the cake batter, and why she likes egg whites rather than whole eggs in this cake.

Then I had to get up because I had to do dinner for my child because my daughter turned three and we had to have a birthday party.

And we had the most delicious Funfetti birthday cake that I made.

I just used a cake mix, but I put an entire container of pudding, vanilla pudding, like the powder, I put a whole thing of that in the cake mix.

So it was the cake mix, Funfetti cake mix, regular way to make it.

And then I added an entire package of pudding into it.

And I don't know why, but it was the most delicious Funfetti cake I've ever had.

We all said this was the best one.

So put pudding in, extra pudding, because they say sometimes there's pudding in the mix.

and i'm gearing up for baking season so megan if you have a birthday cake or cupcake request speak now or forever hold your sweets

um that's a hard choice but if i had to choose a cake or cupcake request give me all the funfetti funfetti every single day Funfetti for the rest of my life, if I could.

I don't know what it is about like a Pillsbury funfetti cake with the funfetti frosting, but it just brings me so much joy and whimsy.

And I feel like I need it every year on my birthday.

That's exactly what I was about to ask.

But- I didn't make the cookies yet, but I'm making them tomorrow, and I did make a fucking lemon Funfetti pound cake.
