And so that became...

And, and, and the sightings in Malmstrom Air Force Base in 1967 where they shut down the missile silos, and the Condon Committee was investigating that.

And interesting, the guy who was the UFO officer at Malmstrom, um, was a guy named Lewis, who was the pilot in command of the RB-47 sighting from 1957, which is kind of an interesting coincidence.

But, um, when the Condon Committee went to investigate, they said, "Well, you know, uh, we can't tell you.

It's classified." And the guy says, "Well, we have clearance." And he said, "No, this is national security." And it's because they were shutting down the missiles, and that's, that's the key right there.

You've got something, something that the Condon Committee actually knew was a national security issue, and they said, "Well, it doesn't affect national security." Well, that affected it immensely.

Mm-hmm.

And I think it scared a lot of people that they were able, that something was able to shut down the missiles so they could not launch them.

Yeah.

Because we could see another Condon report or another manipulation like we saw with Project Blue Book with the early days of Alan Hynek being told how his reports would end up.

Right.

There is that risk, isn't there? There is that risk, yeah.

there? We can ask and we have asked and so far no.

So far they've said no and that's that.

Because there's a silly little game being played at the moment, isn't there? At the moment with the Pursue releases, the four tranches of UFO files, at best the public is being presented with what Project Blue Book and Project Condon all based their findings on, which is there is a mystery.

Yeah.

Robert Salas and others have pushed back on that and said, well, but we knew about the EMP theory.

This had been discussed going all the way back to around the time of the Condon Committee, And if, in fact, they had been testing a weapon like this, and it did actually take our missile defenses offline temporarily, that in itself is a huge problem, especially if these personnel were not informed about what was going to happen before this test occurred.

And so it's really a bit harder with the Malmstrom incident of 1967 to assess exactly what was going on or what combination of factors might have been occurring there.

But one thing that is absolutely clear is that there are plenty of other examples involving unusual sightings at U.S. strategic sites.

And then in the mid, late 60s, there was another kind of ramp up to trying to get the government to come clean on UFOs.

That was the... scientific study by the University of Colorado, known as the Condon Committee.

And that was believed by some people at the time that this will be the government's attempt to finally tell the truth on what it is.

And that was just a big debunking effort.

We can do the same thing.

The Condon Committee, the University of Colorado study that was commissioned in the late 1960s, before the investigation started, before anything was done, the Air Force, a guy named Robert Hipler, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Hipler, sent a letter to Robert Lowe of the Condon Committee saying, and said, here's what we'd like you to find.

Say the Air Force has done a good job of their investigation.

There is nothing of scientific value to learn by further study in the Air Force's closed Project Blue Book.

I will say, however, back in 19- the 1960s, late 1960s, that the Air Force, uh, contracted with the University of Colorado to do the study of UFOs in Project Blue Book.

This is so-called Condon Committee.

Before, before anything was done, an Air Force officer named Hippler wrote a letter to Robert Low, who was part of the Condon staff, saying, "This is what we want to find.

Uh, the Air Force has done a good job of investigation.

There may be something that we could learn from this.

There is something going on." So we can see the duplicity in that.

Um, if you're talking about a disinformation campaign, the Condon Committee probably is it.

And for those of who'd like to see a copy of the Hippler letter and the information that was, um, uh, written in that letter, I have it up on my blog.

So you've got these levels of, of evidence.

Had it been investigated properly at the time, the Condon Committee, the Inter- University of Colorado study, the commission by the Air Force to study Project Blue Book back in the late 1960s, uh, they said, "Well, what we should have do- what should've been done was a magnetic mapping of the car." Um, you know, get...

And basically what they meant was you put a compass on the car and see which direction it points, and then you find cars that were made around the same time by, in the same plant and map their cars and see if there's a significant difference.
