So important.
J
52:14Jonathan ConnerGUEST
And number three, the historic confessions of the church and i would point people to the book of concord and this is so easy first of all you can just buy it from concordia publishing house but i mean the full text is actually online for free just google book of concord now i'm gonna throw something else out there for your listeners and and i do this with the reminder to check your sources so major caveats coming but it can be a useful tool you can go to chat gpt i think bing will do it as well with their co-pilot but you can ask it for example what does the book of concord say about the invocation of saints and it's going to pull up the augsburg confession article 21 and the apology article 21 it'll even tell you what luther says in the small called articles now that's very helpful but let me offer this you need to have the actual book in hand or the online version because chat gpt does get things wrong so you can't just say well it said it must be true not necessarily but what it can help you with is locating it where it is in the text faster and here's actually something surprising because i thought well i'm going to test it and see it will actually also help find things for you in peepers christian dogmatics you know that three volume set you've got the index i got the index sometimes that's a little clumsy to work through But it does a pretty good job.
J
53:46Jonathan ConnerGUEST
Like I said, you got to have the books.
J

Pursuing Concord - The Augsburg Confession: The Ministry
B
2:53BrownHOST
That's very interesting, that we ordered them, and they said we ordered six, and they sent zero.
B
2:57BrownHOST
So that's an interesting thing by CPH.
B

We're working on it.
B

But we're digging into this first part of the Book of Concord, this Augsburg Confession.
Te Laudamus Rev. Dr. Daniel Reuning
D
6:07Daniel ReuningGUEST
Long story short, the Protestant Conference agreed to support the project, and Taylor Dulles evolved into the book you see in front of you.
D
6:14Daniel ReuningGUEST
Now, 14 years later, After Joel died in 2018, I, his narrative, the editors knew that Joel so happily wielded and was privileged to have the editorial assistance of Reverend Jesse Krusemark, our music engraver and LCMS pastor from Minnesota, and Matthew Carver, our layout designer and LCMS layman from Tennessee, editor of Walter's Hymnal published by CPH.
D
6:46Daniel ReuningGUEST
Other assistants are listed at the end of the introduction on page 16.

where we have Luther's Christian questions and answers appropriately positioned before the divine service and chronos last summer.

Then on page 324, the willed setting of the divine service, another item that appears in no other current endnotes.

When Joel and I were at the St. Louis Seminary in 1956 and 57, Healy Willem conducted a workshop for representatives of the 60 plus congregations that were chosen to test his setting before CPH published it.

And because Joel and I were chapel organists, we were invited to attend.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Anti-Christian Education in Disguise Nathaniel Pullmann The Henkel Conference 2026
N
5:09Nathaniel PullmannGUEST
Instead, I want to focus on the curricula that is perhaps more subversive, that parents or teachers or school administrators might suggest that you use.
N
5:22Nathaniel PullmannGUEST
The specific examples will be taken from two curricula that are sold by CPH, the LCMS publishing house, and highly rated on their site, and one that is the most popular, as far as I can tell, Christian SEL curriculum in the country.
N
5:39Nathaniel PullmannGUEST
I want to show you, both from the theory and from these examples, that this tool can only achieve anti-Christian ends.
N
5:48Nathaniel PullmannGUEST
You cannot turn it to good use without completely fundamentally changing its essence.

J

I mean, look, the Reformation is about the rescuing of the gospel.

J

And then that was something to just kind of be funny and, you know, share some memes and stuff.
C
12:56Cameron DueckerGUEST
My hope is to put that and make it a little easier to understand, make it a little easier to reflect on, something that's a little more digestible than the Book of Concord, which is quite thick.
C
13:05Cameron DueckerGUEST
I mean, I still think the Book of Concord should be a part of Lutheran devotion.
C
13:10Cameron DueckerGUEST
I mean, I try to read portions every day, along with Concordia put out the Treasury of Daily Prayer, which is a fantastic prayer book resource, and it has daily readings of Scripture and the Confessions.
C
13:24Cameron DueckerGUEST
Um, but I, I think the hope is to like, if we can create, if I, if I can help contribute and others can create articles, posters, books, study guides, whatever, to help people say, oh, I can read that.

The Lutheran Hymnal – Dr. Elisabeth Urtel, 10/20/26 (2932)
E
10:37Elisabeth UrtelGUEST
They were thinking about how all this would work now at that size.
E
10:41Elisabeth UrtelGUEST
The next year, they end up buying Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, so they're thinking about, "How is this going to work? We need to make a new hymnal." And their idea, I think, is, "We need to get the Missouri Synod and CPH, Concordia Publishing House, on board so we have the resources to make a hymnal that includes our tradition."
T
11:03Todd WilkenHOST
Why did the Lutherans of the synodical conference believe another English hymnal was ne-necessary?
E
11:13Elisabeth UrtelGUEST
Well, there are a few different reasons, and people, after a decade or so at least of using the Missouri Synod English hymnal and the Norwegians using their hymnal, et cetera, just realized that their hymnals were not on par with some of the other hymnals that were being produced.
