Um, so let me tell you, I, uh, interviewed, um, there was a long-standing AIWC, uh, leader and member called Sarojini Varadappan, who, born in 1921, who I was able to interview, who'd been very involved in social welfare work, developmental initiatives for women and children.

Um, I'd also had a chance to interview, uh, Sala Sharma, who had been involved as a kind of a teenager in sort of early, uh, communist youth activities, and then was a long-standing member of the National Federation of Indian Women, and also a local councilor for the Communist Party of India in Delhi.

So again, very interesting and ex- you know, th- these two women, different examples of both doing, uh, women's, um, empowerment work, but taking different strategies.

One through a more welfarist approach, one through local politics.

There's about, I think, 116 parties, so you have the Communist Party of Mexico, Communist Party of Russia, the Communist Party of the Ukraine, the communist, the Palestinian Communist Party, and the Israeli Communist Party, and the Chinese Communist Party, and the North Korean Communist Party, and the Indian Communist Party.

In some countries, there's more than one communist party because they're, you know, they have some differences, and they haven't united yet.

It's a shame, but that's just the way it was.

Who is presiding over this, uh, this entire thing? Well, it's a member of the Communist Party of India, who also happens to be a high commissioner of, um, of, of human rights.

Um, you know, the, the various Eastern Bloc countries send delegations as, as observers, because the strongest allies for indigenous rights, uh, at the United Nations at that particular time were the Soviet, uh, the Soviet Bloc countries, as well as Third World, um, you know, Third World countries or Third World liberation movements.
