ComiXology

So it's interesting.

And then this one that I'm about to talk about, It actually was a Comixology original.

Now, I guess Comixology originals have been gone long enough that it might be worth an explanation to some folks, which is kind of weird.

It shows you how long we've been doing this.

Comixology was a company that basically launched to sell digital comics.

It was acquired many years ago now by Amazon.

and was basically Amazon's main conduit for digital comics for years and years and years, and then has subsequently basically been shut down.

I mean, it's all been rolled into Amazon proper, and all the Comixology people and everything are long gone, and they've moved on to do other things.

I've been talking about their journey since they began at Global Comics.

You know what I mean? I made Comixology when they were doing websites for Comixos before they became a digital distributor.

I went to their office and met my man.

So let me tell you, I've been on this journey, man.

But they delayed it, and it seems Amazon maybe didn't get the memo.

Amazon Comixology has been, as I've complained multiple times lately, has its glitches.

So at midnight last Wednesday...

Amazon shipped out, you know, in quotes, copies of that issue to everyone who subscribed to it, started selling digital copies of this comic that Marvel did not want them to release yet.

The story I just told, I've kind of reconstructed.

It might not be right in all the details, but I think that's the best, the best, uh, best thing.

And of course, if you didn't subscribe to Uncanny X-Men or buy it through Comixology, but maybe some of you folks out there go to those sketchy corners of the internet to get your comics.

Boo! You're not supposed to do that.

It's on a completely different level.

now and it it's it's funny because like there are you know subscription programs you know such as crunchyroll for anime shonen jump for manga giz for manga and you know marvel and dc do have that they have marvel unlimited they have dc infinite then there's the big magilla of comicsology unlimited where you can be able to you know pull all the different comic companies and it's fascinating because you look at DC and you look at Marvel and you don't throw a comiXology in there because they're the cheapest option but you look at those two companies versus Shonen Jump and Viz next to nothing in cost compared for Marvel options and I feel like Marvel does need to learn and same with DC At that cheaper price point, you'll get so many more people.

You may be losing out momentarily, but you will get the cost back eventually.

But you have to think, why is it that price? Right now, there's a very big issue with manga artists being overworked and underpaid.

We see this a lot with digital products.

It could be like comiXology originals.

They release their digital versions that you can buy each week that they have.

And then at some point down the line, one of the multiple publishers that they work with will release the physical version of the comic book.
