Comino

Exactly.

The National Statistics Office data reveals that the entire Gozo and Comino region contains just 36 of Malta's 347 collective accommodation establishments.

Only 36.

That means Gozo holds barely 10% of the national hotel stock.

Which sets up the single most defining number of this entire deep dive.

The NSO's 2021 census of dwellings dropped an absolute bomb.

Nearly half, 45%, of all dwellings in Gozo and Comino are categorized as secondary, seasonally used, or entirely vacant.

45%.
