For my entire life, I thought Come on Eileen was a Queen song.

And after listening to this song for a week, I am still not convinced.

Come On Eileen.

Released in 1982 by Dexys Midnight Runners, the song became one of those records that somehow refuses to disappear.

You can go years without hearing it, then it starts playing and suddenly the entire room knows it.

The band was built around Kevin Rowland, and the group's sound was very different from a lot of mainstream pop at the time.

The mix saw influences with folk and Celtic elements.

Then came the album 2YA, And from that album came Come On Eileen.

The song became a massive international success, but success created its own problem.

So I just read about Kevin Rowland from Dexy's Midnight Runners expressing his disgust over Nigel Farage using their song, Come On Eileen, at a conference.

Wait, really? That's quite a bold statement.

Did he really think they could just use it without permission?

It doesn't matter if it's Pink Floyd.

It doesn't matter if it's a DJ transition track or Come On Eileen or that LF Systems track that had about four tempos in it.
