Colusa

My grandfather farmed, uh, about 12,000 acres, uh, south of Meridian, California.

If you know where that is, it's in between Colusa and Yuba City, a little south of the Butte Sink.

Um-

I know Yuba City.

And so, you know, my first, my first real duck hunt with that gun, I remember it was November 26, 1982.

It was a day, it was a Thanksgiving Saturday, and my uncle took us to Colusa Refuge.

And the very first shot I took at a duck, [laughs] I connected, and he thought, he thought I was claiming his bird.

Yeah.

So, um, I'm from Colusa, California.

That's where I currently live.

Uh, I'm 24 years old, and like Enrique said, I've hunted coyotes for two years.

I drove into Colusa to grab some dog food and more ibuprofen for my knee.

When I got back, everything was normal.

It belonged to Byron De La Beckwith, a 42-year-old fertilizer salesman from Greenwood, Mississippi.

Beckwith was born in 1920 in Colusa, California.

His father, the town postmaster, died when Byron was five.

His mother died when he was 12.

Like I was, I'd read about it and I'd heard about it.

But I ran the blackouts on, I ran them at Colusa, at Delavan, at Sac Refuge.

And adding that blackout silhouette to the decoy mix, total game changer.

I had never really considered how effective they could be.

It's a mix of both.

I would say the vast majority is going to be rice for me.

I've got a lot of blinds in the Colusa-Maxwell area, but also Pleasant Grove as well too.
