Colonial Revival architecture

Lake Yellowstone Hotel, open since eighteen ninety-one, is a national historic landmark and a genuinely elegant place by park standards.

The architecture is Colonial Revival, which looks somewhat incongruous out here among the lodgepole pines, but the building has a certain grandeur that grows on you.

The sunroom facing the lake is where you want to spend a morning white wicker chairs, floor-to-ceiling windows, and Yellowstone Lake stretching away in three directions.

In the evening, string quartets sometimes play in the lobby.
