College Level Examination Program

I'll start in the spring.

I'm going to do some CLEP testing and I'm going to go back to school to become a therapist.

And I'm really excited despite the fact that, you know, it'll take three years or whatnot and I'll be significantly older by the time I get to it.

I feel excited and it's also pushed a lot of other positive changes like I have this thing where I realize if something is a multiplier it motivates me to do other things that are good for me that it's something that I truly truly want and it was like oh well I'm gonna be starting school in the spring so I better book a trip to go see my family I'm gonna start school in the spring you know I'm having a hard time sleeping because my back hurts I better start that Pilates now because how am I gonna study because I'm that much of a geek right I really like I gotta get my studying done oh well if I'm gonna do that then I need to do this and I've just been I like systematically checking things off of my list, things that have been going for ages.

So it was go to class at night.

I got good at taking tests, you know, buy a test prep book for the CLEP test.

And test I ended up testing out of a lot of college.

But anyway, that started my my path toward college, appreciating college, if for anything else, to be competitive.

Yeah, that's pretty amazing.

On the flip side, now that I'm teaching my own kids, now that I have a appreciation, I think, for just, um, the grit that comes from learning something well and the confidence that can come from learning something well instead of just, like, getting by on the skin of your teeth.

So, like, for instance, when you CLEP courses in college and you test out of them, you're, it doesn't count towards your GPA.

So I could get a passing score for all my general ed classes, which is, like, a C grade, and I was like, "Well, what's the point of learning the material more if it's not gonna count towards my GPA?" Like, my final GPA was 3.9, but those CLEP c- classes didn't count towards it, and so to me, it didn't make any sense to learn the material.

Now what's funny as I'm going back through and, like, teaching my kids humanities, and I'm like, "I would have loved to learn all this about art or, like, go deep on all of these, um, you know, o- these, um-

Like social sciences or-
