Colleen Camp

The financer disappeared, along with his money, before shooting could be completed.

One of Coolidge's friends from Zoetrope, actor Colleen Camp, came aboard as producer and convinced director Peter Bogdanovich, whom Camp had worked with on They All Laughed, to put up the money for them to continue filming.

Bogdanovich, succumbing to financial woes similar to Coppola's, left Coolidge without funds to complete her film, and Ann and Joey, retitled City Girl, would never be released in North America.

Coolidge was back in L.A., working on a script with Camp.

Coolidge recalled, That 16-year-old kid put together all of Nick Cage's outfits, whereas then Delia did all the Valley stuff, and it was a little like, not the same, as H.R. Giger and Ron Cobb in Alien, where you get two totally different sensibilities.

All that stuff he put together was real.

Colleen Camp, who was game to play Julie's mother despite being only 29 years old, pulled double duty behind the scenes.

Crawford recalled, "'I think that the unsung hero of Valley Girl is actually probably Colleen Camp, because Colleen is an actress, not only a good actress, but Colleen also knows everybody.' She was a friend of Martha's, but Colleen networks like nobody has ever networked.

Saturn Rising.

Some also seemingly character actor darlings, like Colleen Camp.

Um, but just like, I went into the movie being like, I'm not that I'm going to hate this, but like, I'm going to force myself to not like this as much as I want to actually like it if it's good.

Yeah.

... that name sounds familiar.

Colleen Camp is in it.

I'm trying to think who's in it.

Um-

Colleen, Colleen Camp is, is the, is the-

That is-

... is the maid.

[upbeat music] Welcome to the Daily 64th New York Film Festival podcast.

On today's edition, Jordan Firstman, Reggie Atsalam, Diego Calva, Cara Delevingne, Colleen Camp, Eldar Isgandarov, Alaska Riley, Saturn Rising, and Miss Benny join NYFF artistic director Dennis Lim to discuss Club Kid.

Firstman's wildly funny and remarkably assured feature debut about a washed-up 30-something New York scenester who discovers he has a 10-year-old British son, swerves from irreverent satire to genuine pathos.

The 64th New York Film Festival is presented in partnership with Rolex.

Yeah.

Bet- between that and Colleen Camp being in Club Kid-

[laughs]

... which I'm guessing we're-

It's the only reason why it has any kind of momentum at all.

Yeah, I hear Colin Camp's really good in it, and I always love to hear that.

I'm just at a point where I have so little time to watch anything that if the premise of the project doesn't interest me and it's not...

You don't want to watch gay come on, come on? Are you sure? If the premise of the project doesn't interest me and it's not going to be a critical...

Oh, Sam Phillips.

Colleen Camp as Connie Kowalski, and Kevin Chamberlain as Charlie Weiss.

Charlie Weiss, the head coach of Notre Dame who got fired?

The head coach of Notre Dame was based on this character.
