I went straight to the DC comics and to the novels, and I read a couple of different Star Trek novels, and I just didn't feel it wasn't the same.

But I can't remember which Peter David book I read first, and I knew Peter David from comics already, so he was a trusted name.

And whatever book it was, I just, I think it was one of the Q ones.

Basically, he, but he just got, he gets the character voices perfect.

I would argue that Mzadi, that actually did more development for Riker and Troi than the whole Seven Seasons of Next Generation.

I mean, that one book.

He did a lot of stuff for ADW.

Keep the Vulcan upbringing, but just the fact that it was Sarek and a

man.

I just felt it was a bit of a dick move, really, to try and have this brand new character and new series and immediately, I feel, undermine them by putting the most iconic character ever in Star Trek as a relation.

Yeah.

and then you know obviously then there was all the headaches around my wife would not heard this before and all that moaning that happened at the time and yeah you know i've seen over the seasons they talk about it and they obviously get the big reason why and the whole um fact discovery disappears etc um but i just didn't feel it was needed i thought everything that they did with Burnham's character and subsequent storylines could have been achieved with a different Vulcan family.

And I think it might be more interesting to have a different Vulcan family, you know, one exploring more Vulcan culture, understanding a bit more about, you know, because surely Sarek isn't the only big player in the Federation family.
