Cold front

We kind of had a little perfect storm.

We had this cold front come in and, you know, all year the cold fronts have been great.

I mean, they've literally from, you know, ever since the massive heat of the summer, any cold front we could get, the fish just really started going.

And that's basically what happened.

But I was a little concerned because, I mean, it was a massive cold front.

I don't know if it hit you guys like it hit us.

But so on.

But so the morning stuff that we were doing, uh, wasn't working.

All right, your weather in South Florida, 85 degrees.

We're supposed to get our first cold front this weekend, ladies and gentlemen.

So excited.

Yeah.

That's right.

Hmm.

What's cold front? 70?

It's... honestly, it's like-

Thank you for joining me for today's edition of first alert weather extra.

The big headline, bottom line up front here, talking about a cold front early next week.

Of course, the intensity of that cold front or the strength of it, not as strong as we previously expected.

However, still cold front on the way.

So the heat peaks this weekend ahead of next week's cold front, that is.

And we'll see a chance for rain with that cold front as well.

Slightly cooler temperatures and even more cooler air towards the end of Next week, before we get to that, though, I do want to start off with our Friday night football, our red zone forecast for you all.

And let's get that pulled up.

We'll talk more about that coming up in just a bit.

But today's show, what are we talking about? Upper 90s holding strong ahead of next week's cold front.

We've been talking about next week's cold front.

Here on First Alert Weather Extra for about a week, maybe a little more than a week.

And so hopefully this has not come as a surprise to you that there is a cold front on the way.

And along with that cold front, not only is going to come cooler air, cooler temperatures, lower temperatures, we are also going to see some higher chances for rain.

We do need that rain here in East Texas.

So let's get rocking and rolling here.

So I'll actually just like, if there's a big cold front that rolls through like mid-October, I'll obviously put myself in a good position in Ohio, but I'm not gonna travel out of state anywhere to hunt, because I feel that a first cold front in early to mid-October sometimes is, is misleading and it's not as good in my opinion.

Maybe mid-October's a little better than early, but I, like, anything after the third week of October, if there's a cold front hitting, you, you gotta be in the woods, but anything before that, um, I don't know.

And I, and I don't wanna, I don't wanna make it sound like I'm not hunting cold fronts.

It's just that I have found that it- it's almost like my, my dad told me one time, um, he almost thought that, you know, the deer are kinda like almost in shock of like, "Oh, crap, it's getting cold." Like, they almost like hunker down a little bit, and they, they kinda like wanna ride it out.

But then after that first cold front, you know, the second, third, fourth cold front that hits, they're like, "Oh, okay, it's, you know, it's, this is just normal now.

It's just if I have time or if there's a cold front, you know, that's on closer to a weekend or something, like, you know, whether it's the front or the tail end, like I just think, you know, just be in the woods.

But if I had to choose, it'd probably be before and then like the tail is what I'd like to hunt.

What, um, what keyed you in on targeting those cold fronts for those kinda right times? Was this just observation over the years? Was it trail camera data? Uh, what, what did that look like?

Hey there on Fox Weather, meteorologist Craig Herrera with your latest forecast.

Coming in from the Fox Weather Center, we're watching a cold front sweep across portions of the eastern half of the lower forty-eight.

Some of the severe weather today with some gusty winds and hail will extend over portions of western New York, western PA, and into northern Ohio.

The front itself extends all the way back into the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles for showers and storms throughout the afternoon as well.

Pork exports also declined, reaching our lowest July level in three years.

In weather notes now, a system moving across Canada will push a cold front across the northern half of the country.

Forecasters say the front is unlikely to push very far south, instead stalling across the central part of the country.

Cooler air will follow with the biggest temperature drop expected across northeastern Canada.
