It was like right as the transition, Defeater, he licked the guitar and they were like acting like they were just fresh off Warped Tour acting like a rock band.

And it wasn't necessarily our personal taste per se, but what are the bands that are the moment? What are the bands that are really kind of like, you know, the straw that stirs the drink kind of energy.

And at that moment, when we talked about it a lot, it was incendiary, power trip, code orange, and turnstile.

And Knock Loose was in there too.

And Knock Loose, yeah, that's right.

They tour where they can, how they can, make it work.

Weekends long, maybe you get a week here, a week there, but making it work.

Whereas Code Orange, Power Trip, Knock Loose, Turnstyle, we're all kind of like touring machines at this point.

And so now we advance to today, 2026.

Like, so this long time Vein got shelved, but now they've come back with this, and my God, does this album just tickle a spot for me.

If you like mathy but sludgy hardcore in the vein of, like, Code Orange on I Am King, like that kind of...

I mean, this is, like, that's the kind of the closest kind of like something.

If you like that- This album is just serving that up and oh boy, is that album, is this album for me.

This album, from, from hearing Play On I was like, "Yeah, I'm just in.

I'm just in on the sound of this." It's not necessarily got the song strength of like Vein on Errorzone, but um, just as a kind of like sonic explosion, this album constantly just makes me smile and feel all giddy and sort of like, yeah, make the heaviest noises you can with this sort of mathy, sludgy, hardcore fusion.

Yeah, I, I for, for once I would downplay the Code Orange comparison, because um, obviously the natural comparison that people have made is Vein because it, it's those guys.

Um, and I think it's, you know, there's a bit of pushback to that 'cause people go, "Oh yeah, it's, they, it's different band, it doesn't just sound like Vein." Which is, is true.

And I think Outbreak, over the last few years, have found a really sweet spot that showcases great up-and-coming punk and hardcore bands, established, great established classic hardcore bands as well, and all these other little different things that are relatable and adjacent to punk and hardcore and skate, mostly kinda skate culture.

And when I went up the other year and saw Converge and, uh, you know, bands like Nothing, I remember seeing, and, um, and Harm's Way and Code Orange, and had a really, really great time.

But it was also seeing people like Denzel Curry and El Sweatshirt and, um, obviously Death Grips being the headliners I was most excited about, who were fucking fantastic.

And they've sort of just taken that ball and run with it over the last few years, and it's meant that now they can put on a one-day London extravaganza, which is far, far bigger in terms of the scope and scale that they, um, that they put on in the, the Manchester one.
