Coconut Island

It's pretty amazing.

Jim and Bob, have you all ever connected with this island called Coconut Island off the coast of Kaneohe Bay in Oahu? so i we would we used to do these officer outings and stuff like that back when i was out there and we would kayak from the kaneohi bay base to coconut island and that's where they have the hawaii institute of marine biology out there i'll put it up on the stage here yeah and we would do um tours i mean we'd meet all the scientists out there they'd have all the you know the sharks and turtles and stuff like that things that you know there's a bunch of hammerhead baby hammerheads around that area very cool have you all ever connected with these folks and actually done some work out there in coconut island

no we we've not we've we just actually sent a team of two guys out to I can't pronounce it but Papa you know the we call it Papa it's the the National Marine Sanctuary one of the National Marine Sanctuary is off of Hawaii but that was on a level board but we've got big eyes to get back out to Hawaii just because um woman I had the pleasure of scientists I had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of years ago unfortunately she's passed away but a woman named Ruth Gates who I believe it was at that Center she may have worked through there was doing research on um coral super corals as they were called because corals that could be kind of engineered to be heat resistant to you know rising ocean temperatures that would be a game changer for, because you hear about bleaching events like the Barrier Reef and everything like that that happen all the time because water temperatures are getting warmer.

She was really the pioneer out of Hawaii.
