I think some of the big issues we're talking about here are separate to that.

I mean, I think some of the issues you've been talking here around right-spit east and also coastal erosion.

I mean, the bottom line is whatever we're talking about here, we're talking about expenditure, we're talking about serious amounts of expenditure.

And what I would say is before you start committing yourself to do that, you want the data, you want to understand clearly what is the problem and what is it you're trying to achieve? So that's the clear thing.

but yes and i think also you know we have to be realistic about other investments that are required for example energy we need to be investing in our national grid so that we can do more in the north because the trouble is at the moment we are there are limits to what we can do up there so things for example like the anaerobic digestive that's looked to be developed in at Andrews Airfield fantastic great opportunity for new businesses to come but that investment's happening now I'm hoping it's going to happen and that's really good to see

I think we've got to have more movement, less aiming as far as coastal erosion goes.

All we see in Kurt Michael's report after report after report, and now we're back to just simply monitoring again.

And we were well over a half a mile away from the edge of the cliffs were restricted to that.

And look, of course, that is coastal erosion by its nature and unfortunately it will continue to happen.

Do you have any concerns about that going forward? There isn't really much we can do to prevent this and look, while it will take a very long time, eventually a lot of these sea stacks will be eroded.

Yeah, it's just a normal process at the cliffs.

The study which mapped and assessed changes in the state's shoreline between nineteen-ninety and twenty-twenty two found that several stretches of the coast have been steadily receding.

Now, this is concerning because coastal erosion can have serious consequences.

It can increase the risk of flooding, damage homes and infrastructure, and even threaten the livelihoods of communities that depend on the coast.

So far, at least six coastal districts, including Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore, are facing significant shoreline changes and erosion.

And this study was conducted during a period of, uh, nineteen-ninety to two thousand twenty-two, and the data came from a recent, uh, Rajya Sabha questions when the Union Minister of Ports, Shippings and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, he responded to a query raised by Odisha Rajya Sabha MP, Sashmit Patra, about the impact of shoreline changes or the coastal sea erosion in Odisha.

As I said, the NCCR monitors long-term shoreline changes across Indian coastline, not just Odisha, and this particular question was about, uh, Odisha.

So citing the NCCR study, the Union Minister said that approximately twenty-eight point three percent of, uh, Odisha's four, four sixty-five kilometer coastline, uh, is affected by coastal erosion, and, uh, around seventeen point six percent remains stable with no significant shoreline changes, while fifty-four point one percent of total coastline is experiencing accretion or growth.

And within Odisha, which are the areas that have been severely affected by coastal erosion?
