Clyde Wells

You know, as a civil servant, you know, I served under four different administrations, and I was loyal to whoever was in government, 'cause that was my responsibility as part of that.

Got along, you know, very well with, uh, you know, Clyde Wells, got to know him from a different perspective.

Uh, Tobin.

Uh, still friends with Roger Grimes as part of that process.

And, uh, and, and I had pulled on that string.

And just by the fact, I ended up ratifying Meech Lake, but just the fact that I delayed, it allowed Clyde Wells to come along-

Hmm

... and others, who really aborted the deal.

Well, it was show and tell time in New York today.

Fisheries Minister Brian Tobin, along with Premier Clyde Wells, took busloads of media to the New York waterfront to show them a trawl.

Not just any trawl, of course, but a very special one.

And that pattern was repeated, and each year one species after another was depleted, and we're down now finally to one last lonely, unloved, unattractive little turbot clinging on by its fingernails to the Grand Banks of Newfoundland saying, someone reach out and save me in this 11th hour as I'm about to go down to extinction.
