The underlying economics of enterprise data have basically been completely rewritten by A.I.

Yeah, let's talk about that, because for 20 years, the dominant framework for thinking about this was coined by the British mathematician Clive Humby.

He famously declared, you know, data is the new oil.

Right, the classic quote.

Every time we do use the internet, the web browser keeps track of the sites we visit and sells that information to data agency to come up with advertisements that are custom-made for you.

Clive Humby, who spent his entire career in data s- science, once said, "Data is the new oil." We live in an information age.

Companies and even government agencies are always gathering information from us because the data they gather helps improve their sales and prod- productivity.

Consciously or unconsciously, we're also gathering information about people.

With time at such a premium, I'll choose my words carefully.

You get submerged in data, so you've got to have a data plan such that you can capture the data, turn it into information, and then present it to the people that need it for making decisions.
