The New York Post reporting the 62-year-old was caught by correctional officers in mid-July trying to smuggle something into prison and was later found with unspecified drugs.

The serial killer is locked away in one of New York State's oldest prisons, the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, up in the Adirondack Mountains near the Canadian border.

The former Manhattan architect admitted in April to killing and dumping the bodies of eight women along desolate stretches of Long Island.

Their bound and dismembered bodies began to be uncovered in December of 2010.

You know who else can't follow the rules? Rex Heuermann, convicted Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann, is already getting into trouble behind bars just months after being sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison.

According to a prison disciplinary record and reports from Newsday and the New York Post, correctional officers discovered a small quantity of synthetic drugs inside Heuermann's cell at the Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate New York.

The discovery was reportedly made on July 14th during a search of his cell only a few weeks after he arrived at the maximum security prison.

Newsday reported that officers found a small piece of paper wrapped in plastic underneath his bed that tested positive for synthetic marijuana.

and had admitted a responsibility for an eighth killing in connection to the Gilgo Beach investigation.

So I'm not really sure we expected him to follow the rules once he got to prison, really? In June, Judge Timothy Mazzei sentenced the former Manhattan architect to multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Kierman is now housed at the Clinton Correctional Facility, which is a maximum security prison, sometimes nicknamed Little Siberia.

I'm sure it's because of the lovely weather in upstate New York.

Yeah, I, um, I was being sent to interview him by an American magazine.

First time was actually in the Beverly Hills Hotel in this swanky, swanky restaurant just after he got out from his prison sentence up in Dannemora Prison.

So we were at this restaurant having a meal, and he looks, "Look over there," he's going, and it was Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins.

And of course, he was a huge Anthony Hopkins fan, so it was a bizarre contrast for him.

And in order to do that, I'm going to ask you to take us on a little auditory trip to Dannemora, New York, to the Clinton Correctional Facility.

And if we were standing outside of this facility with all of our listeners, what would we be seeing?

Well, Dannemora itself as a town is a very interesting place.

I mean, honestly, the idea that that's the standard should shock everyone.

But that's what you got to hit if you're doing an Eighth Amendment force case.

And even knowing that that is how high the standard is, had the Clinton Correctional Facility ever had problems in the past with officers using excessive force in excess of that wanton and sadistic standard against the inmates that are housed there?

Yes, they're wanton and sadistic.
