Clinch County

So the biggest aha that I had was there are three Georgia counties and one Florida county that the Okefenokee sits within.

It's Charlton County, Ware County, and Clinch County in Georgia, and it's Baker County in Florida.

And I was driving around the swamp endlessly, like circling 700 square miles.

I was circling it over and over again, right? And what I learned was that if you're in Ware County, you know Okefenokee Swamp Park as an entrance, but you've never visited Charlton County and gone to the headquarters of the refuge or gone out through the Folkestone entrance.

And you've definitely never gone over to Clinch County and gone to Homerville and Fargo and gone into Okefenokee State Park and experienced it.

So what we have were counties that were living in complete isolation.

Friday night lights, football games, right, you know, which are great ways for people to come together, but that's competitive.

Yeah, for sure.

So again, it goes back to that kind of real-time situational awareness that we can all pay attention to when you've got radio communications that you can hear in Clinch County, Georgia, but also be able to see where those tracker plows are in Clinch County, Georgia.

And if they're out there mapping things in the field, all of that is also being uploaded in pretty much real-time that you can see.

But also we use all those tools in our dispatch centers.

Another one of those ridiculous Todd Holcomb stories we did, um, at the start of the year, he talked about, he looked at Georgia counties, all 159 of them, I think.

And he said, you know, which one produces the most per capita? It was a little county down in South Georgia called Clinch County that I think has produced 10 college football players since the, uh, century started.

And that was like huge, you know, because I don't think it's a very big county at all.

So it is.
