Clifton Suspension Bridge

The coroner returned an open verdict.

More puzzling still was the death of Vimal Dajibé, 24, who jumped off the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol in August 1986.

Dajibé had been working at Marconi on computer control systems for Stingray torpedoes.

Another open verdict was returned.

But when you said you've got to watch this, and I watched the first episode, I was absolutely, not a word I use very often, but gobsmacked.

I mean, it is utterly cinematic from the minute we have the opening shot of one of the Doctor's jogging across the Clifton Suspension Bridge at night, a drone shot, all beautifully lit, as then there's a sort of huge explosion and then this enormously gripping tale unveils itself.

What I found was that... less storyline it was it just felt you were thrown into the middle of an enormously difficult night of terror and overworked services whether it be fire police you name it it felt really quite real at the end of it after the third i couldn't watch the second one because i thought i'd really kind of got quite not frightened but it it really took you out of it watching the first one it's not your average saturday night sort of cozy soapy hospital drama in any way shape or form They've pulled out all the stops and hats off to them because unlike Call My Agent, you could probably watch these two episodes and just get straight back into it rather than have to watch the last 40 years to build up to it.

But no, I was very surprised.

And I understand it used to be the sort of old Lord Mayor's House.

It's in Clifton, so it's really close to the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, which you've probably heard of before.

The dates are Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of October, 2026.

It was a Saturday 3 o'clock kick-off, so we went down Friday night and we stayed in a hotel.

We had a morning in Clifton near Clifton Bridge and then went to the stadium.

We parked on an on-street parking and got away quite well.

We got beat again because Bristol City are one of our bogey clubs.

In keeping them there is great reward.

On holiday last week, we visited the Clifton Suspension Bridge, which crosses the Avon Gorge near Bristol.

We walked along the very top of the cliff edge.

Along with a couple of my boys, we were looking for the world's fastest bird.

I mean, it didn't stop Donovan.

He then had a plan to jump from Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge.

If you know that bridge, that's like...

That's even scarier than Niagara Falls, I reckon.

He only spent a month in prison, but much more dire, he was released on a bond which obliged him not to jump off of anything for three months, and this meant that he was forced to job around.

And in March 1888, he was getting desperate.

He decided he was gonna attempt the Clifton Suspension Bridge again.

The problem was that there were police posted on the bridge to prevent this exact thing from happening, so he couldn't actually draw attention to his attempt.

And from then on, the bridge company really struggled to raise enough capital to complete the project.

Aged 25, Brunel has so far worked on the unfinished Thames Tunnel and now the unfinished Clifton Bridge.

For most engineers, this could spell the end of their career, but he is not most engineers.

Though the bridge project has completely stalled, it brings Brunel to the attention of the businessmen of Bristol at just the moment when they are embarking on a number of ambitious projects.

Walsh's death remains a mystery.

A similar death occurred in August 1986, when 24-year-old computer software engineer Vimal Dashbhai, who worked for Marconi Underwater Systems, was discovered dead underneath Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge, a fall of over 200 feet.

Interestingly or not, the death was not ruled a suicide and still remains open.

What made Dashbhai's death even stranger was the fact that he was found with his trousers around his ankles and a needle-sized puncture wound in his buttock, perhaps suggesting some kind of incapacitating drug had been administered.

For many decades, young men on Pentecost Island, Vanuatu, have performed a form of bungee jumping as a rather extreme rite of passage.
