Clifton Newman

Dick was never once sanctioned or disciplined by the Office for Disciplinary Counsel for any of this.

And my one and only criticism of Judge Clifton Newman was that he never properly put Dick in his place, at least not that we could see publicly.

And Judge Newman was phenomenal, by the way.

However, what happened at Friday's hearing more than makes up for it.

Yeah.

Judge Clifton Newman.

What do you think? What do you, what do you think we're going to get out of this judge comparing to, uh, to judge Clift who, who also really, you know, took no shits.

I really love Judge Newman.

Compared to, um, who did we have on the first one? Um-

Newman.

Newman.

Newm- yeah, Judge Clifton Newman.

Mm-hmm.

What do you think? What do, what do you think we're gonna get out of this judge comparing to, uh, to Judge Clift, c- who, who also really, you know, took no shits?

I really love Judge Newman.

I do wanna say that.

I mean, his reactions are really kind of stunning here today.

But this is a judge, compared to, who did we have on the first one? Newman.

Yeah, Judge Clifton Newman.

What do you think? What do you think we're going to get out of this judge, comparing to Judge Clifton, who also really took no shits?

I really love Judge Newman.

I do want to say that.

I thought he was great.

But this is a judge, compared to, who did we have on the first one? Newman.

Yeah, Judge Clifton Newman.

What do you think? What do you think we're going to get out of this judge, comparing to Judge Clifton, who also really took no shits?

I really love Judge Newman.

But, but this is a judge, I, I, compared to, um, who did we have on the first one? Um-

Newm- yeah, Judge Clifton Newman.

shits?I really love Judge Newman.

I do wanna say that.

Former South Carolina Attorney General Charlie Condon and I covered Alec Murdoch's double murder trial in 2023 together, gavel to gavel.

Murdoch was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without parole by Judge Clifton Newman for killing his wife Maggie and son Paul.

Those convictions were overturned last May because of allegations of jury tampering by the clerk of court.

And believe me, we saw our share of courtroom theatrics.

That'd be my expectation, given the length of his other sentences in state and federal court.

So do you keep going after this from a money standpoint for the taxpayer dime? And I've got to think this is their last try at trying to convict him.

I have to ask you, we got one minute left, but just tell me, you and I watched Judge Clifton Newman.

I know you're right there, really, really big fan of Judge Newman.
